The Carroll Gallery, located within the Carriage House on the grounds of the Physick Estate, hosts changing exhibits that bring Cape May’s rich history to life year-round. This exhibit shines a spotlight on Victorian artisans and the fascinating history of tattoos, offering a unique glimpse into the artistry and culture of the era.

 

Temperance Presentation

During the late Victorian Period, the issues of temperance and prohibition were as much "hot topics" in Cape May as they were in the rest of the country. This living history program brings these debates to life with a spirited discussion between a local salonkeeper and a representative of the Women’s Rights Movement, along with other reform efforts. This thought-provoking offers a unique opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while exploring the social and political challenges of the era.

 

Cape May Point Tour

Journey through West Cape May to the tip of the peninsula, one of North America's most celebrated migratory locations in North America. At Cape May Point State Park, take in the sight of the fully restored 1859 Lighthouse. Then, head to Sunset Beach, where you can still see the remains of the sunken ship Atlantus, and enjoy a brief stop for shopping.

 

Spirits & Oddities Trolley Tour

They did what??!! Headless photography? Electric Corsets? Coffin Torpedoes? Discover the peculiar and the perplexing on the Spirits & Oddities Trolley Tour in Cape May! Learn about the strange beliefs, superstitions, fads, and curiosities of the Victorian era, and hear fascinating tales from Cape May’s history that are bizarre, unexplained, and downright weird!

 

Meal Information:

 

Dinner on day one is included at the Lobster House. Choices are:

  • Chicken Francaise

  • Stuffed Flounder

  • Crab Cakes

  • Vegetarian

Dinner is served with a house salad, bread & butter, roasted red-skin potato, green beans almondine, and vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup for dessert. Coffee, tea, iced tea, and soda are included.

 

Lunch on day two is included at Anglesea Pub. Choices are:

  • Roasted Turkey Platter: roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potato, corn, gravy, and cranberry sauce

  • Fried Shrimp Platter: served with steak fries and coleslaw

  • Classic Burger: 8 oz fresh Angus burger topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese served on a rustic kaiser roll with french fries

Lunch is served with chicken caesar salad and NY-style cheesecake for dessert. Iced tea, soda, coffee, and tea are included.

  • There is no baggage handling; please plan to handle your own luggage while staying at this hotel.

  • Trolleys are "Open-Air" vehicles, please dress warmly for your comfort.

Accessibility:

  • Emlen Physick Estate: The first floor of the Physick House Museum is accessible through the entrance on the South side of the house. The pathways around the Estate are accessible, either covered with crushed clamshells or constructed of brick

  • Trolley Tours: A trolley equipped with a wheelchair lift is available with advanced reservations.

  • Starr has a select quantity of wheelchair accessible motorcoaches available; therefore, we suggest you contact a Travel Advisor to discuss any needs you may have before reserving your trip.

The property features an indoor pool, seasonal outdoor pool, and a fitness room. Hemingway's Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Bar at Hemingway's serves your favorite beverages. Guestrooms include coffee maker, mini-fridge, microwave, hair dryer, and iron/board.
