Marble House, built by William Vanderbilt of New York as a 39th birthday gift for his wife Alva Vanderbilt, stands as a testament to Gilded Age opulence. After their divorce in 1895, Alva married Oliver H.P. Belmont and moved to Belcourt, located just down the street. Following Belmont's death, she reopened Marble House and added a stunning Chinese Tea House on the seaside cliffs, which became a venue for womens suffrage rallies. Experience the grandeur of Marble House at your own pace with a self-guided audio tour.
