Depart Utica's Union Station for a 2 hour ride on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Travel through remote forests, past sparkling rivers, ponds and streams into the magnificent beauty of the 6 million acre Adirondack Wilderness. Our one-way rail journey disembarks in Thendara, NY.
Enjoy free time in the Village of Old Forge. Stroll Main Street and see many unique gift shops including Old Forge Hardware. This long-standing staple has served as a bustling center of commerce for more than 100 years. Old Forge is a shopper's dream filled with woodsy gifts, rustic furniture, and locally made goods.
Tour Great Camp Sagamore The Adirondack Forest Preserve surrounds the entire 27-building Great Camp Sagamore estate owned by the Alfred Vanderbilt family from 1901-1954. This masterpiece of Adirondack architecture was a place where America's most influential people came to take a break from the clamor of modern life. It's wood and stone buildings are the vernacular rustic architecture on which our National Park lodges were modeled.
Enjoy a Dinner Cruise on Raquette Lake, the Adirondack's largest natural lake! Enjoy breathtaking views and a four-course meal on the W.W. Durant. At one time, Raquette Lake was the playground of the rich and famous, such as JP Morgan, Vanderbilt, Huntington, and Carnegie. Home of the Great Camps style of architecture, there are more Great Camps on or near Raquette Lake than anywhere else in the Adirondack Park.
Welcome to Rhinebeck, a charming, historic town nestled in New York's scenic Hudson Valley. Rhinebeck is located just east of the Hudson River, and has majestic views of the Catskill Mountains. Tree-lined streets beckon with unique independent specialty shops offering apparel, home furnishings, books and gifts. The many fine and casual dining spots celebrate the Hudson Valley's thriving locavore movement of boutique farms and orchards.
The home of FDR was an estate located in Hyde Park, NY overlooking the Hudson River. "Springwood" was President Roosevelt's birthplace and lifelong residence. The interior is furnished exactly as it was when FDR died. Roosevelt's grave and that of Anna Eleanor Roosevelt (his wife) are in the rose garden.

The Camp Sagamore walking tour takes approximately 1/3 of a mile over very gently sloping paved and flattened paths. That distance is cumulative--there are many places to stop, sit, stand and rest along the way. Golf carts are available that can transport those with significant mobility issues. For individuals who opt not to take the tour at all, there are PBS documentaries that can be viewed in gift shop theater.
Starr has a select quantity of wheelchair accessible motorcoaches available; therefore, we suggest you contact a Travel Advisor to discuss any needs you may have before reserving your trip.
