From 1892 to 1954, over 12 million immigrants arrived in New York City by steamship, with their first stop at Ellis Island. Here, they underwent essential legal and medical examinations before being granted entry into the United States.
Today, the halls of Ellis Island have been transformed into a museum dedicated to sharing the experience and stories of these people who left everything behind to build a new life in America. Through a variety of interactive displays, tours, and displays, visitors to the Ellis Island Immigration Museum can learn about New York City's rich immigrant past.
At the Museum of Immigration, you can walk in the footsteps of your ancestors as they arrived in America. Experience "The Island of Tears," a poignant film that captures the journey to a new homeland. Every visitor to Ellis Island is provided with an audio tour to enhance their experience.
There are concession stands on all boats which sell healthy snacks and beverages, as well as merchandise. There are also concession stands and gift stores on Ellis Island. You can take your own food to the island, but large coolers will not be permitted past security. The ferry departs from Liberty State Park every 30-45 minutes.
Nestled on 12 acres in New York Harbor, the Statue of Liberty stands as a magnificent gift from the people of France, symbolizing international friendship and serving as a universal emblem of political freedom and democracy.
Every visitor to Liberty Island receives an informative audio tour, enhancing your experience as you explore this iconic landmark.
The Statue of Liberty Museum enriches your visit with a deeper understanding of Lady Liberty's history. Guests can explore the museum at their own pace, with no need for advance reservations or additional tickets. Featuring three engaging gallery spaces, including the original torch, the museum is designed to inspire and educate through interactive and thought-provoking exhibits.
