Havre de Grace Maritime Museum

The Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, located where the Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay, celebrates the region's rich maritime heritage. This unique environmental setting, abundant with diverse flora, fauna, and navigable waters, has been the perfect backdrop for generations of inhabitants - from the earliest Native Americans over 10,000 years ago, to the first European colonists in the 1600’s, to today’s thriving community. The town’s name is said to come from the Marquis de Lafayette, who, in 1782, admired its charm and likened it to a “Havre de Grace” (pronounced "Haver-dee-Grayce") as he traveled along the Post Road.
