Hudson River Boat Cruise

Cruise through the majestic Hudson Highlands aboard the luxurious Pride of the Hudson! Your adventure will begin at Pride's Landing in Newburgh, NY journey back to a special time and place where the "lordly Hudson" meets the noble heights of the Hudson Highlands. Enjoy views of Bannerman's Island, Storm King Mountain, Breakneck Mountain, and West Point.

 

Snack bar is available for light snacks and drinks. Cash only! No credit cards accepted. Vessel is non-smoking and handicapped access is limited. Main Deck is partially enclosed. Restroom facility on Main Deck only. Open Upper Deck has a roof covering.

 

Olana

Traverse the historic formal approach to Olana's Main House and learn about the ideas that influenced Frederic Church and architect Calvert Vaux in siting and designing this Middle Eastern-inspired Hudson Valley villa. Explore the intact, richly decorated historic interiors of the main floor, including the stunning central Court Hall, Isabel Church's Sitting Room designed around her husband's masterpiece "El Khasne, Petra" (1874), and Frederic Church's richly appointed painting studio; available as guided tour or explore at your own pace.

 

Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site

Home to the 32nd and longest-serving president of the United States, Franklin D. Roosevelt returned to Hyde Park often, drawing on this place to renew his spirit during times of personal and political crisis. Explore the Roosevelt saga in the homes of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, the exhibits at the nation's first Presidential Library, and over a thousand acres of gardens and trails.

 

Walkway Over The Hudson

Walkway Over The Hudson is a linear walkway spanning the Hudson River. At 212 feet tall and 1.28 miles long, it is the longest, elevated pedestrian bridge in the world. The park is managed and maintained by NYS Parks - Taconic Region. Restrooms are available at either end of the bridge.

 

Culinary Institute of America

You will love the dining experience and casual elegant atmosphere of the Hudson Valley's foodie flagship - the Culinary Institute of America. Dining at one of the wonderful featured restaurants: Bocuse Restaurant, Ristorante Caterina de'Medici, or a dish from the local regional and seasonal product at American Bounty Restaurant. You will surely be satisfied!

 

West Point Visitor's Center

The West Point Visitors Center serves as the gateway to West Point with a sweeping view of the Hudson River. It features many exhibits including The West Point Experience which walks visitors through the Cadets' 47- month experience.

 

The West Point Experience is an interactive, multi-media exhibit that showcases seven exhibit areas, which include two movie theaters and 20 exhibitions. A nine-minute film - "West Point - The National Treasure" runs every 20 minutes. The exhibition includes a model cadet barracks room, videos, and over 50 panels.

 

West Point Academy

West Point Sightseeing Tour - 1 and a half hour riding and walking tour of West Point Academy to include Cadet Chapel & Trophy Point. See the central area where cadets live and attend classes. Enjoy the history and beauty of this section of the post.  Visit Parade Grounds where today's cadets drill and parade.  This is where George Washington drilled and organized the Continental Army.

 

Tour Trophy Point, Battle Monument and relics of wars dating back to the Revolution. Get ready for a million dollar view of the scenic Hudson Valley. Cadet Chapel: This Gothic Cathedral with high vaulted ceiling, towers, stained glass and buttresses has been called the only true intuitive example of Christian Art.

 

Lunch at Thayer Hotel

MacArthur's Riverview Restaurant is one of the top restaurants in the Hudson Valley.

This renowned restaurant on the Hudson River, with its Gothic windows and old world charm, sets the stage for a truly unique dining experience.

 

Brotherhood Winery

Experience the historic atmosphere of Brotherhood Winery by taking a leisurely stroll through our vast network of underground cellars. Excavated by hand in the late 19th Century, the dimly lit cellars house over two hundred oak barrels and feature a crested vault containing some of the oldest vintages in America. Our team of knowledgeable guides will reveal the secrets of these mysterious vaults and keep you amused with tall tales of folly and tragedy. The tour will get you well acquainted with the complete wine making process and you will feel like an expert in oenology. Test your wine tasting skills in the modern showroom and enjoy the many flavors and textures Brotherhood has to offer the budding and discerning wine lover.

 

 

Meal Information:

 

Lunch on Day 1 is at the River Grill and includes choices of:

  • Chicken Marsala with potato

  • Penne in a tomato cream sauce

  • Stuffed fillet of sole with potato and vegetable

  • Sliced flank steak

A garden salad and dessert are included.

 

Dinner on Day 2 is at the Culinary Institute of America. The entree choice is:

  • Roasted Chicken Breast

  • Vegetarian Entree (Chef's Choice)

A romaine salad, scalloped potatoes, garlic green beans, smother cherry tomatoes, and a vanilla bean cheesecake for dessert are included.

At West Point Academ, a Photo ID is required.

Type of Photo ID you will be bringing on tour

Note:  Children will not need an ID, however all of the above information will be needed.

 

The beds are high at the hotel. A step stool may be requested.

 

Hudson River Boat Cruise: Bring cash to use at the snack bar. Credit cards are not accepted.

 

Accessibility:

Starr has a select quantity of wheelchair accessible motorcoaches available; therefore, we suggest you contact a Travel Advisor to discuss any needs you may have before reserving your trip.

The boat is not wheelchair accessible. Persons will have to manage a few steps and step into the boat to board. The second floor of Olana is not wheelchair accesible. The second floor of the FDR Home is not wheelchair accesible. The FDR Museum is wheelchair accessible. American Bounty restaurant at the CIA is wheelchair accessible. The West Point tour is wheelchair accesible. Brotherhood Winery has a tasting/sales room that is wheelchair accessible. The cellars are not wheelchair accessible.

The hotel features an indoor pool and Fitness Center. The hotel offers breakfast daily and the First Capitol Bistro & Bar is open for dinner. There is also a cocktail lounge adjacent to the restaurant.
