Cape Neddick "Nubble" Lighthouse

In 1874, President Rutherford B. Hayes allocated $15,000 to construct a lighthouse on this distinctive "nub" of land. By July 1, 1879, the construction was completed, and the lighthouse, originally known as Nubble Lighthouse, began guiding mariners. Later, to honor its historical significance, Nubble Lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places, ensuring its preservation for future generations.

Maine Mineral & Gem Museum

The Maine Mineral and Gem Museum is home to the finest collection of Maine minerals and gems, showcasing one of the world’s premier collections of extraterrestrial rocks. Among its impressive displays are meteorites from Mars, the Moon, and the Asteroid Belt, offering fascinating insights into the origins of our Solar System. Notably, the museum features the five largest pieces of Moon rock on Earth.
