Trip Highlights:

Kancamagus Scenic Highway

Journey along the famed Kancamagus Highway, also called "The Kanc," one of New Hampshire's most breathtaking routes through the White Mountains. Named after Chief Kancamagus, the fearless leader of the Penacook Confederacy, this scenic road ascends nearly 3,000 feet and offers awe-inspiring views. Along the way, see the Rocky Gorge Scenic Area, where the Swift River has carved a narrow path through solid rock, and take in the beauty of Falls Pond.

Conway Mountaineer Train Excursion

Step aboard the Conway Scenic Railroad for an authentic railroading experience, traveling historic routes from the 1874 train station in North Conway Village to Conway. The Mountaineer takes you on a breathtaking ride through Mount Washington Valley and the rugged Crawford Notch. Take in views of the Saco River, traverse towering viaducts, and wind through rocky crags at the summit of Crawford Notch. Experience the nostalgia of post-World War II rail travel aboard beautifully restored 1950s-era streamlined passenger cars. At Conway, witness the impressive locomotive as it "runs around" the train to prepare for the return trip.

Gondola Ride on Loon Mountain

Take a ride on New Hampshire’s longest scenic Gondola Skyride to the 2,733-foot summit of Loon Peak, where stunning panoramic views of the White Mountains await you.

Squam Lake Cruise

Embark on a serene cruise on Squam Lake, famously featured as the setting for the movie "On Golden Pond." Aboard a comfortable, canopied, and heated pontoon boat, discover the lake's rich natural history and unique wildlife while listening to stories of the people who have cherished these waters for over 5,000 years. Keep an eye out for the majestic Common Loons and Bald Eagles that call this tranquil haven home.

Mill Falls Marketplace

Enjoy free time to explore Mill Falls Marketplace in Meredith, NH, where shopping and dining come together in a picturesque lakeside setting. Browse nine charming shops, savor culinary delights at three unique dining venues, and stroll along brick walkways lined with flower gardens. Be sure to admire the stunning 40-foot cascading waterfall and enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Winnipesaukee.

Kellerhaus Ice Cream & Candy Shop

Nestled in the Weirs Beach area of Laconia, NH, Kellerhaus is a beloved family-run business known for its handmade chocolates, candies, and ice cream. Since 1906, this charming shop has crafted sweet delights with time-honored recipes and exceptional care. Enjoy a delicious one-scoop ice cream sundae during your visit and savor a taste of tradition!

Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train

Embark on a scenic dinner train ride along the picturesque Pemigewasset River, traveling through the beautiful fields and forests of New Hampshire’s White Mountain Region, including the award-winning Jack O'Lantern Golf Resort. Board the "Granite Eagle," one of three beautifully restored Pullman dining cars, and indulge in a four-course meal served in the refined Grand European style. As period music fills the air, the rhythmic rumble of the rails and the nostalgic whistle of the engine create a timeless ambiance. As twilight falls, enjoy a romantic atmosphere that transports you back in time, with a two-hour, 20-mile roundtrip experience. Wheelchair accessibility is available onboard.

Fadden's General Store & Maple Sugarhouse

Nestled in North Woodstock, NH, Fadden's General Store and Maple Sugarhouse has been a cherished fixture since the 1930s, celebrated for its award-winning maple syrup products. Explore a delightful selection of gift items, candles, and souvenirs, all while discovering their full range of maple syrup offerings. During your visit, learn about the fascinating process of maple syrup production and experience firsthand the tradition that has made Fadden’s a local favorite for generations.

Franconia Notch

Discover one of the most stunning scenic routes in the White Mountains, featuring iconic landmarks that showcase the area's natural beauty. Begin at the Old Man of the Mountain Historic Site, a tribute to New Hampshire's state symbol carved in granite. Then, marvel at "The Basin," a breathtaking 20-foot glacial pothole nestled within a beautiful waterfall.

Old Man of the Mountain Historic Site

The Old Man of the Mountain Historic Site, located in Franconia Notch State Park, is a popular tourist destination in New Hampshire. It features a striking natural rock formation that resembles the profile of an old man's face. For many years, the Old Man of the Mountain has served as a symbol of the state, drawing visitors from near and far to marvel at this iconic and awe-inspiring geological formation.

Mount Washington Cog Railway Visitor Center

This fascinating visitor center located at the base of Mount Washington offers a captivating experience for visitors. The center features an informative museum with engaging displays and presentations, a large gift shop, and a convenient cafeteria, making it the perfect starting point for your journey to the summit.

Mount Washington Cog Railway

Experience the world's first mountain climbing cog railway on a scenic ride to the summit of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. The round-trip journey lasts approximately three hours, including a one-hour stop at the summit, where you can capture breathtaking views and enjoy the natural beauty of the White Mountains. Trains run in all weather conditions, rain, snow, or shine, and may be powered by steam or diesel engines. Be sure to bring a camera and a jacket or sweater to stay comfortable.

Need to Know:

  • Squam Lake Boat Ride: please wear appropriate clothing for current weather conditions and remember that it is often cooler on the water. We recommend layers with rain/wind jackets, hats, and gloves if needed.

  • Mt Washington Cog Railway: restroom facilities are not available on the train. Additionally, all carry-on items must be compact enough to fit comfortably on your lap.

  • Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train: Dress Code is "Business Casual"- slacks, collared shirts, skirts, nice jean or shorts are all welcome. Ripped clothing and tank tops are discouraged.

  • Every Starr trip includes deluxe round-trip motorcoach transportation from one or more of our departure locations.

  • A Starr Tour Director will accompany you on this trip.

  • Baggage handling at hotels is included.

Accessibility:

  • Conway Mountaineer Train: for individuals who use a wheelchair, a mobility device, or have difficulty navigating steps, they do have a mobile lift. (Please note: The mobile lift has a combined weight limitation of 400 pounds).

  • Loon Mountain Gondola: the Gondola can accommodate foldable wheelchairs, walkers or strollers. The item will be loaded into the gondola cabin ahead of the cabin you ride in. The attendant will remove it and have it ready for your arrival.

  • Mt Washington Cog Railway: the passenger coaches are historic in design, with three steps up to the boarding deck, narrow aisles and doorways. A mobility-impaired guest must be capable of negotiating steps (and transferring from a wheelchair)– by themselves or with assistance from others in their group– to their assigned seat on the coach. If space is available, they will transport your folding wheelchair or walker on the train, or they can provide one for your use at the summit. Due to space and weight limitations, they are not able to transport motorized wheelchairs. For these reasons and others, including weather and terrain conditions at the summit, severely impaired guests may have difficulty with some aspects of the experience.

  • Starr has a select quantity of wheelchair accessible motorcoaches available; therefore, we suggest you contact a Travel Advisor to discuss any needs you may have before reserving your trip.
