Cave of the Winds

The Cave of the Winds was a natural cave behind Bridal Veil Falls at the Niagara Falls. The cave was some 130 feet high, 100 feet wide and 30 feet in depth. It was discovered in 1834, and originally dubbed Aeolus's Cave, after the Greek god of winds.

 

The Cave of the Winds trip takes you closer to the waters of Niagara Falls than you thought possible. You ride an elevator 175 feet deep into the Niagara Gorge. Then, you follow a tour guide over a series of wooden walkways to the famous "Hurricane Deck." As you stand at the railing, you are a mere 20 feet from the billowing torrents of Bridal Veil Falls.

Take a cruise down the historic Erie Canal and through the Lockport Locks and experience a unique 2-hour cruise which includes "locking through" and being raised the 49 ft. elevation of the Niagara Escarpment (the same one that creates Niagara Falls) in the only double set of locks on the Erie Canal. You will pass under bridges that raise straight up, see water cascade over Lockport's famous "Flight of Five" 1840's locks, and travel through the solid walls of the "rock cut" as your Coast Guard licensed captain describes the architecture, sights, and folklore along the way.

Enjoy wine tasting while experiencing spectacular vineyard views at the region's premier winery! Arrowhead Spring Vineyards is a "Wine Lover's Winery". The winery focuses on traditionally made, dry wines that are barrel aged 1-2 years.
