Located on the east rim of the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, Leonard Harrison State Park spans 585 acres and features modern facilities, a visitor center, and the most famous scenic views of the canyon. Across from Leonard Harrison, you'll find Colton Point State Park, offering a different perspective of the canyon.
The park is named in honor of Leonard Harrison (1850-1929), a dedicated businessman and banker from Wellsboro who generously contributed to his community's improvement. Initially spanning 121 acres and known as "The Lookout," Leonard Harrison State Park continues to offer visitors a glimpse into the area's natural splendor and historical significance.
Nestled within the City of Williamsport, the "Millionaires' Row National Historic District" spans eight blocks. This guided riding tour recounts the wealth and power of Williamsport during the 1800s, showcasing magnificent mansions and historic churches. It's a journey through history and grandeur!
The Rowley House, crafted by Eber Culver in 1888, stands as a pinnacle of Queen Anne architecture in Pennsylvania. It was one of the first houses on the street to have electric lights, bells and a dumbwaiter. Inside, visitors marvel at its intricate woodwork, preserved faithfully through the years by just three dedicated owners, offering a rare glimpse into its original grandeur.
The Taber Museum offers a captivating journey through the history of north central Pennsylvania, spanning from early American Indian settlements to the region's industrial evolution in the 21st century. Its diverse exhibits feature an American Indian gallery, a Fine and Decorative Arts gallery, and the renowned Shempp Model Train exhibit, showcasing over 300 toy trains.
