The Pilgrim Hall Museum, the nation's oldest continuously operating public museum, is dedicated to preserving and sharing the profound story of the Pilgrimsfrom their perilous Mayflower voyage and the first winter in Plymouth to the First Thanksgiving. Founded in 1820, the museum showcases an exceptional collection of Pilgrim artifacts, including William Bradford's Bible, the only portrait of a Pilgrim (Edward Winslow), Susanna White's cradle from the Mayflower, William Brewster's great chair, and the earliest American sampler made by Myles Standish's daughter. With a commitment to historical accuracy and inclusivity, the museum illuminates the resilience and courage of these early settlers.
The Mashantucket Pequot Museum, tribally owned and operated, vividly portrays the story of the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation. As a key resource on Native American history and the regions natural history, this 308,000-square-foot complex features permanent and temporary exhibits, including multi-sensory dioramas and interactive displays. Plimoth Patuxet Museum: Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for exploring the outdoor exhibits.
Plimoth Patuxet Museum: Please note that this attraction may not be suitable for those with mobility challenges. The museum spans 40 acres of outdoor exhibits, including steps and hills. While many re-created 17th-century buildings are wheelchair accessible, some unpaved pathways, consisting of dirt or sand with steep grades, can be difficult to navigate. These conditions make certain areas less accessible and are generally discouraged for wheelchair users.
Mayflower II is not wheelchair accessible.
